Step 2: Specify Maps (Continued)

After you press Show Maps, ShowTheBest will determine if the maps you specified are valid. It will also alert you to potential problems.

Here is an example showing the result of Show Maps using the table and maps specified previously.

ShowTheBest shows the map representation along with a comment as to its validity. If there are any problems, you can always go back and fix the map.

Here is another example showing the result of Show Maps using the table and maps specified previously -- but with some common errors. (Most errors are due to extra tabs or new line characters.)

• The weight map is a problem because weight maps (as opposed to field maps) require 2 columns.

• The Cuisine field (Field 1) has a problem because only 2 rows are captured even though you entered more rows than 2. The reason is that there was either an extra or a missing new line character (carriage return) in the text that was pasted in the text area.

• Field 3 has a problem in the formula: an unbalanced parenthesis in the second row.

• Field 4 has a problem: ShowTheBest thinks its a synthetic (selection) map -- not a formula. This is because there is an extra tab or new line character in the pasted text.

When you press Finish you can view and interact with your ShowTheBest Interactive Table.
